There are four distinct regions within little hours of the San Pedro town centre – Lagunas del Altiplano and Salares, Salar de Atacama, Cordillera de la Sal, Tatio Geysers. By driving a couple of hours more from San Pedro de Atacama, you can take your Arica campervan with you to Argentina for a unique wildlife and camping experience.

There is loads to see on your way: Observing the stars and taste the national drink “el Pisco” in Valle del Elqui, Watching Humboldt Penguins, dolphins and birds in Punta de Choros – Isla Damas, go fishing or kayaking at Pan de Azúcar, a coastal National Park that rarely fills to capacity; and Chile’s Ruta de las Estrellas featuring La Campana, La Silla and Cerro Tololo observatories. Avid surfers can drive across Arica to Buchupureo and chase the longest wave in the world, The Surf Route.
